Ángela López Ruiz, artist, curator and researcher Uruguayan presented research at Off Limits "The picture on fire."
In the early 70's a fire extinguished, almost in its entirety, the collection of SODRE Cinéart films, which was established in 1943 highlighted Latin America 1 for his leadership. Thanks to the emotional political gesture of the poet Fernando Perez who donates his collection of primitive (500 titles) and the support of this foreign film libraries and becomes space is refunded at the National Archives SODRE Image (1985). The first fire destroyed the headquarters of the Festival of Experimental and Documentary Film in the second film memory burned in Uruguay. The military dictatorship and the governments that happen do not act against the spread of tangible documents and creative power that was promoted during the festival was cystic, giving the impression that the Uruguayan film yet unborn.
This project revisits the cinematic history of Uruguay since the early 20 to late 70's, the bonds of this production to other artistic disciplines in modernity and as such "blank pages" affected contemporary thought.
