The photograph of the dead was a practice that was born shortly after the picture (an August 19, 1839) in Paris, France, then spreads rapidly to other countries. The practice was to dress the body of a dead person with their personal clothes and participate in a final group portrait, with colleagues, friends, family or individual portraits. Mortuary photography was not considered lurid, due to the nascent social ideology in the era of Romanticism . During this period, had a nostalgic vision of medieval themes, and death was thought to look more sentimental, reaching some seeing it as a privilege.
